Simaltal bus accident: Task force submits report to home minister

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The task force formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to study the incident of the disappearance of two buses and passengers in the Trishuli River, has submitted its report to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak at a program held at the ministry on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The task force formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to study the incident of the disappearance of two buses and passengers in the Trishuli River, has submitted its report to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak at a program held at the ministry on Tuesday.



Chhabi Rijal, joint secretary of the ministry, who is also the coordinator of the task force, submitted the report to the home minister.


After being appointed as a minister, Lekhak decided to form a task force on July 15 to study the accident.

The task force started its work on July 17.


The task force has prepared a report covering the cause of the accident, the compensation to be given to the families of the deceased and things to do to prevent such accidents in the future.


On July 12, the Bagmati Deluxe bus (Ba Pra-03-001 B 2495) traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur with 38 passengers, and the Angel Deluxe bus (Ba Pra-03-006 B 1516) traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu with 27 passengers went missing in the Trishuli River.


Of the 65 people on board these two buses, three got out safely while 62 people had gone missing. Of the missing passengers, only 25 bodies have been found so far.
