Special Court sentences LDT engineer to six years in prison for corruption

KATHMANDU, June 13: Saroj Bhattarai, an engineer employed by the Lumbini Development Trust, has been sentenced to six years in prison following his conviction in a corruption case.

KATHMANDU, June 13: Saroj Bhattarai, an engineer employed by the Lumbini Development Trust, has been sentenced to six years in prison following his conviction in a corruption case.



The Special Court issued the complete verdict today, affirming Bhattarai's guilt after his initial conviction on June 6.

In addition to the prison term, the Special Court has imposed a fine of Rs 8 million on him.


The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed the case against Bhattarai, accusing him of illegally accumulating wealth.
