SSF distributes Rs 8.48 billion to 135,843 contributors

KATHMANDU, April 5: The Social Security Fund (SSF) has disbursed more than Rs 8 billion to contributors across various schemes. The SSF has paid Rs 8.48 billion to 135,843 contributors till Thursday.



The highest amount, totaling Rs 7.26 billion, has been allocated under the old age protection scheme. Additionally, Rs 984.38 million has been disbursed for medical treatment, health, and maternity protection, Rs 114.72 million for accident and disability protection, and Rs 132.82 million for dependent family protection.

According to SSF Spokesperson Bibek Panthi, 135,843 contributors have availed themselves of benefits under different schemes offered by the SSF. The SSF has been providing various benefits to the contributors under schemes such as medical treatment, health and maternity, accident and disability, dependent family and old age security.


The SSF has accumulated a total contribution amount of Rs 52.63 billion so far. A total of 1,257,799 workers have been registered in the SSF under formal, foreign employment, informal and self-employed categories. Among those listed, the number of workers employed abroad is more. The government has made it mandatory for workers going abroad to participate in the SSF.


As per SSF records, as of Thursday, 491,223 individuals are employed in the formal sector, 766,243 in foreign employment, 251 in the informal sector, and 82 in self-employment. Furthermore, the SSF boasts 18,819 affiliated employers.
