KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Minister for Urban Development Arjun Narsingh KC said that the constitution amendment proposal will be registered within 15-30 days after the Dashain festival.
In an interaction organized by Reporters Club Nepal on Friday, Minister KC said that the preparations for constitution amendment have already begun and that the registration process will begin within 15-30 days after the Dashain festival.
He said, “the registration process will begin without delay. Major parties are discussing this matter.”

Speaking at the program, KC expressed hope that the opposition parties will support to this effect. He said, “the acceptance of the constitution proposal is the responsibility of all the parties. Therefore, the Nepali Congress,CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have to come together and help make this process a success.”
He further said that they are holding talks on how to address the demands of the agitating political parties. He said, “We are working toward fulfilling the demands as floated by the agitating parties.”
He mentioned that the constitution should be implemented on time and for this, all the parties must prepare themselves for the elections scheduled. KC added, “the election will hold the stakeholders accountable for the implementation of the constitution.
He said, “We are all sailing in the same boat; if any one of us drowns, there is no chance that the remaining will escape alive. Therefore, all the parties need to be serious.” The government has prepared to conduct elections of local bodies based on the area clusters (Ilaka).
He said, “We have reviewed the previous decision. The reports must be submitted by the Commission by mid-October.”
According to KC, the government is preparing to hold elections of Village Councils and Municipalities within four to five months. KC said, “We should take necessary steps on electing representatives to the local bodies as well.”
