Strike called off in Dang

DANG, Jan 21: The general strike demanding relocation of provincial capital in Dang district has been called off on the fourth day on Saturday evening.



The decision was taken by a struggle committee comprising of representatives from all the political parties. However, the committee decided to continue other forms of protests.

The committee said the decision was taken as per the request of the Election Commission, keeping in mind the National Assembly election on February 7. 


In the coming days, their protests would include waving black flags, submitting letter of memorandum, sit-in protests, relay hunger strikes and visiting the Supreme Court to seek legal remedy, among others.


As a part of the protest program, the district residents are preparing to place black flags in their vehicles as well as in the public places including Ghorahi, Tulsipur, Lamahi, and others place on Sunday. They would protest wearing black armbands, the committee informed.
