SURKHET, August 9: A joint students' union here on Tuesday padlocked the Mid – Western University at Birendranagar protesting the decision to grant affiliation to the private colleges against the instruction of the University Grant Commission.

All Nepal National Free Student Union's District Chairman Dhupendra Shahi alleged economic back and forth in granting affiliation to the private colleges rather than the community colleges.

ANNISU Revolutionary's Secretariat Member Rajendra Budha expressed his concern that the varsity was handing out affiliation in a non-transparent manner without consensus among the student unions and the majority of the senate members.

He warned of stringent forms of protest if the varsity does not immediately roll back on its decision. RSS
