KATHMANDU, July 25: Around 88 percent construction work of Super Dordi ‘B’ Hydropower Project in Lamjung has been completed.
The under-construction 54MW project is based in Dhodheni of Dordi Rural Municipality-6 of Lamjung, a hilly district in Gandaki Province. According to the People’s Hydropower Company, the project developer, it has completed digging a 5.100 km long tunnel and the installation of a 1,100 meter penstock pipe.

Similarly, the project has completed 85 percent of construction of the powerhouse while 70 percent of the work related to the electromechanical equipment has been concluded. The reconstruction of the dam that was damaged by the flood in June 2021 is also in progress.
Super Dordi ‘B’ Hydropower Project targets to start production from mid-February 2023. Apart from a number of floods, the project progress was affected by the 2015 earthquake, and the subsequent economic blockade in the southern border and the COVID-19 crisis.
According to the project officials, about 65 percent of the installation work on the transmission line has also been completed. The transmission line with 20 electric towers will be connected to the Kirtipur Substation.
Nine banks including Sanima Bank (major investor) have invested in the project. The total investment of the project is Rs 8.80 billion. People of the project-affected districts have invested Rs 270 million in the project.
