Swollen river causes halt to dam construction

RASUWA, Aug 8: Construction of reservoir of the 111 megawatts Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project has halted following the sudden increment in water level in the Bhotekoshi River, said the project management.

RASUWA, Aug 8: Construction of reservoir of the 111 megawatts Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project has halted following the sudden increment in water level in the Bhotekoshi River, said the project management. 



"The construction stopped after the swollen river took a new course through the construction site. Work is on to collect details of the damage caused by the swollen river at the construction site," said the project chief Chhabi Gaire.

The water flow is measured approximately 5,000 cubic meters per second. However, other construction continues. The digging of 4,203 meters tunnel has reached the final stage, said Gaire.
