KATHMANDU, Aug 6: The Vibez Band has made history in Nepal’s television industry by releasing the country's first music video created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Nepali-American pop rock band, renowned in both the United States and Nepal, premiered the AI-generated video on national television on Sunday.

The music video showcases a compelling narrative of love and separation among young people, all crafted through AI technology. The characters and scenes, including the young woman are entirely artificial, created based on specific instructions provided to the AI. The result is a visually captivating experience where it is challenging to discern whether the characters and scenes are real or generated.

The video features AI-generated scenes set in various locations, from coffee shops and village settings to driving scenes, temple settings, roaring fires, and a bride. Produced with the aid of software such as Midjourney, RunwayML, LumaAI, KingAI, and Topaz VideoAI, the project involved AI direction, editing, and color grading by Prain, with a screenplay by Ajay Bhattarai. The lyrics were written by Vivek Pokharel, and the song features the bass of Grammy Award-nominated Manoj Singh, with mixing and production by Sashwat Shrestha.

The video is a reimagined version of a famous 2008 song from The Vibez Generation album, brought to life once again for the AI era. The Vibes Band, known for its innovative approach to music, spent $10,000 to produce this groundbreaking video, filming in various locations in California.

Previously, the band’s old music video was the most expensive in Nepal, directed and shot by Shailendra Di Karki. This song won the Best Band of the Year award at the 2009 Image Awards and Hits FM Awards. The Vibez Band, which includes vocalist Prain Singh, Direklal Shrestha on drums, Rupak Lama on guitar, and Manoj Singh on bass, has also released other popular tracks such as "Nirmohi," "Tasbir Timro," and "Kathmandu City."
