HETAUDA, Jan 1: The Province 3 government is to operate cold storage facilities in 10 districts of the Province for the storage of vegetables and fruits.
The province government has also called for proposals from the construction companies for the same.
The province government’s Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives stated that such cold storage facilities would be constructed in Makawanpur, Dhading, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchok, Chitwan and Kavre, besides the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.

It is estimated that the construction cost of a single cold storage facility is Rs 40 million.
The province government minister for land, agriculture and cooperatives Dawa Dorje Lama said that the local level, cooperatives, the private sector and farmers would be encouraged to invest some percentage of this cost.
The farmers had been demanding construction of cold storage facility in their respective districts since long.
