BIRGUNJ, Aug 23: The Parsa National Park Administration has estimated that the number of royal Bengal tiger has been doubled in the Park.
The number of royal Bengal tiger has increased due to appropriate habitat, food, wetlands, control of poaching along with expansion of Park area.
India's endangered tiger population tops 3,600
As per the census carried out in 2013, there were seven royal Bengal tigers in the Park. Chief Conservation Officer of the Park, Hari Bhakta Acharya, said that although result of the census carried out in the fiscal year 2017/18 has not been made public, Park expected that the number of royal Bengal tiger would be doubled.
The Parsa Wildlife Park was changed into Parsa National Park last year by incorporating Bara, Parsa and Makawanpur and the Park now covers an area of 627 square kilometers.
The Park Administration has forwarded effective programmes to increase the number of royal Bengal tigers after the royal Bengal tiger, an endangered species, was in the verge of extinction.
As per the census of 2013, there are 198 adult tigers in reserve and parks in the country. RSS
