BIRGUNJ, July 27: Ekdarwa village of Sakhuwa Prasouni Rural Municipality in Parsa district is yet again being terrorized by tigers entering the settlement from the Parsa National Park.
Locals have reported increasing sights of tigers and cubs around the village, where 10 locals and four security personnel were injured in a tiger attack one-and-a-half years ago.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satya Narayan Thapa, locals have reported sight of tiger in Kansghari near the Ekdarwa canal. “Others have reported tiger cubs. We couldn't be sure,” he said.“We are coordinating with the Chief District Officer (CDO), district forest office, and Parsa National Park regarding the matter. They have already been informed about the matter,” added DSP Thapa of District Police Office, Parsa.
Yashwant Yadav, a local leader, said footprints of tigers were seen a few days ago. “Then some people reported seeing tigers with cubs inside the settlement, leading us to suspect that the big cats have been lurking around.”He said the local community first informed the CDO but they did not get a satisfactory response, following which other bodies concerned were also informed. “Our objective is to protect tigers while at the same time not letting them harm the local communities,” added Yadav.CDO Loknath Paudel said that he was informed on the matter and that he had instructed the police accordingly.
Chief Conservation Officer Hari Bhadra Acharya of the national park said they are making efforts to verify the tiger footprints. “Until verified, we could only assume it as rumors. If it is confirmed that the marks on the ground are tiger footprints, a team will be mobilized to track and relocate it to a safe place,” he said.
