Farmers fail to sell tomatoes priced at Rs 4 per kg, dump over 92,000 kg in Kalimati (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU, June 18: Farmers have thrown tomatoes on the roadside of Kalimati in Kathmandu after they failed to sell their produce even at Rs 4 per kg.

KATHMANDU, June 18: Farmers have thrown tomatoes on the roadside of Kalimati in Kathmandu after they failed to sell their produce even at Rs 4 per kg. 



Farmers, who came to Kalimati fruit and vegetable market with tomatoes on Sunday morning, threw 92,000 kilos of tomatoes on the road, complaining that they did not get a fair price in the market.

The farmers threw tomatoes away citing no sales even at Rs 4 per kg. This has also resulted in traffic congestion and food waste.
