Tourism can create job opportunities: CM Paudel

MAKAWANPUR, Oct 11: Chief Minister of Province 3, Dormani Paudel, on Wednesday stressed on the importance of tourism sector for the prosperity of the nation.

MAKAWANPUR, Oct 11: Chief Minister of Province 3, Dormani Paudel, on Wednesday stressed on the importance of tourism sector for the prosperity of the nation. Inaugurating the Tistung Festival of Thaha Municipality, Makawanpur, Paudel claimed that a significant number of job opportunities can be created through tourism.



“The main target of our government is to attain prosperity,” he said, adding, “Promotion of tourism is vital for prosperous Nepal.”


He added that rural areas have much potential in tourism and such areas should run home-stay facilities.

“Home-stay is very vital for the development of tourism in rural areas,” he said.


Claiming that the provincial government is also putting in efforts for the development of tourism, Chief Minister Paudel said that such fairs and festivals play important role in promoting tourism. Emphasizing on the need of displaying and selling local products in such festivals, he said that the provincial government is ready to assist the locals in such activities.


During the program, chairman of the Delegated Management and Government Assurance Committee of the National Assembly Ram Narayan Bidari said that everyone should focus on the development of a historic place such as Tistung. Claiming that the investment in such places of historic importance should be increased, he also said that the historic place should be renamed.


Similarly, Member of Parliament (MP) Birod Khatiwada warned that the language, religion, and culture of such places may become extinct if proper attention is not given to their conservation. He added that such festivals and fairs should play an important role in the conservation of heritage and promotion of tourism and that the government should pay proper attention to the development of such places of historic importance.


Festival expects to attract 50,000 visitors


The festival which runs till Saturday is expected to attract as many as 50,000 visitors. There are 160 stalls at the festival. According to the coordinator of the organizing committee Indra Bahadur Shrestha, Rs 2.1 million will be spent for the festival.


The organizer informed that the festival features cultural dress exhibition, local food items, exhibition and sale of agricultural products and home-made products while the visitors can also observe historic and religious areas.
