They have been accused of luring three Nepali citizens to visit Laos via India and Thailand on September 1, offering them free tickets and visas for online sales and marketing jobs in Laos. The duped Nepali citizens were promised lucrative jobs that would fetch between $1,000 to $ 1,500 a month.

Upon reaching Laos, they were forced to do illegal work such as investing in bitcoins. After working there for two months, the Nepalis were instead forced to pay Rs 390,000 and were tortured mentally and physically. They returned to Nepal with the help of relatives on November 11.

The Chinese nationals have been sent to Sundhara-based Jagannath Deval Jail Office and kept under custody for pre-trial detention as per the order of the Kathmandu District Court.
