Two people arrested with firearms

MORANG, August 22: Armed Police Force personnel arrested two persons with two weapons from Kharibari, Sunwarshi Municipality-8 of Morang on Sunday.

MORANG, August 22: Armed Police Force personnel arrested two persons with two weapons from Kharibari, Sunwarshi Municipality-8 of Morang on Sunday.



Two pistols were found with 1 of the arrested persons. Superintendent of Police, Rajkumar Lamichhane informed Republica that two pistols were recovered from Arif Miya Alam, 28, of Sunwarshi Municipality.

According to SP Lamichhane, Naveen Dhimal, 29, of Urlabari Municipality-6, Tarun Chowk was also arrested shortly after Miya was arrested.


While checking the motorcycle (Ko 27 Pa 406) coming from India to Nepal, an automatic Chinese pistol, a magazine and 1 round of bullet and a sixer pistol were recovered from Alam's possession.


During the interrogation, Alam said that the firearms were ordered by Dhimal. After that, Dhimal was arrested from Ratuwami Municipality-8, Damravhitta, at around 8 PM. SP Lamichhane said that Dhimal was arrested with a motorcycle and Rs 47,000 in cash.


"We have handed over the two people who were arrested with weapons to the Area Police Office, Rangeli, for necessary action," SP Lamichhane said, "During the initial investigation, they found out that the arrested ones may be arms dealers." The police are preparing to file a case against them. Preliminary investigation has revealed that both of them are arms dealers, according to police.
