Although the top leaders of the two parties had earlier decided to give the leadership of the provincial government to the CPN Maoist Center for five years, the provincial leaders brokered a new deal.

“We tried hard to proceed according to the decision of the center. But we agreed to lead the government in turns," said a Maoist leader after the meeting.

Rajkumar Sharma, the provincial parliamentary party leader of the CPN (Maoist Center), will become the chief minister in the first term after the agreement. He was supposed to stake a claim to the post  today.

Province Chief Tilak Pariyar has directed the parties to stake claim for the post of CM within 5 pm this afternoon.
