UML's student union disrupts vehicular movement

DHANGADHI: Residents of Ghodaghodi municipality have halted road connecting the East-West highway as protest against the assault on municipality mayor, Mamata Prasad Chaudhary.  



According to Kailali’s police chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Binod Ghimire, students’ union affiliated to CPN-UML has disrupted vehicular movements and called on indefinite strike while demanding action against perpetrators.

Yesterday, a group of cadres affiliated to Netra Bikram Chand led Communist Party had fired shots at Chaudhary at his residence at 8:10 PM inflicting injuries the latter.  Police have arrested three cadres and confiscated a motorcycle, Se 2 Pa 3671.


Chaudhary is undergoing treatment at TUTH Hospital, Maharajgunj.


The mayor was dragged in news after Radha Chaudhary, 18 of Deukaliya-5 from his municipality was beaten mercilessly for being a witch.  Mamata Prasad was also criticized for being silent observer to the incident.
