KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Unilever Nepal Limited (UNL) on Thursday said that its factory in Hetauda of Makwanpur resumed normal operation from Thursday after the union of workers withdrew the lockout.

Issuing a statement, the multinational company said that a tripartite meeting was held on Wednesday among the representatives of unions, management of Unilever Nepal Ltd and the president of Makwanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry to resolve the issue.

“The company agreed to reopen the factory after the representatives of the two workers' unions extended an assurance of good conduct and productive engagement for the functioning of the factory,” the statement added.

The lockout by the trade unions had been hampering operation of the factory since August 7.
