The EC also asked Sandhya Tiwari, the chief of CPN (UML) and Gopal Kirati, the chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) to propose new names and election symbols within 15 days. These two parties were formed and registered at the EC after the former parties led by Oli and Dahal decided to merge.

Issuing a verdict on Sunday, a joint bench of justices Kumar Regmi and Bam Kumar Shrestha ruled that the Nepal Comunist Party belonged to Rishi Kattel who had filed a writ petition claiming the name of the party.
