Vaccination drive launched for children left out during regular schedule

KATHMANDU, April 28: The Ministry of Health and Population today organized a vaccination program targeting the children deprived of vaccines in the government’s regular schedule of vaccination.



Dr Abhiyan Gautam, chief of Child Health and Immunization Section, Child Welfare Division, said the vaccines will be administered on May 14 as well.

Thirteen sorts of vaccines will be administered to children under five years during the campaign.


In Nepal, 80 percent children are fully vaccinated, 20 percent are partially vaccinated and four percent have not been immunized at all.


The outbreak of measles and rubella in some districts prompted the government to launch an additional vaccination drive.


The ministry has urged one and all to take their children to the nearest health facilities and ensure that they receive all vaccines provided by the government.
