After creating massive success at the box office with Raazi and Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal is all set to play the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Karan Johar’s upcoming ambitious period film, ‘Takht’.

The film is a story of two brothers – Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb, to be played by Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal respectively, with Kaushal being the villain in the movie. Takht will be presented in a beautiful way depicting the Mughal Era through the best visual texture. It is based on controversial themes of love, lust, violence, and betrayal.

The cast also includes Alia Bhatt who’ll reportedly be playing Singh’s love interest while Kareena Kapoor Khan will be seen in the role of Ranveer & Vicky’s sister - the eldest daughter of Shahjahan, which will be portrayed by Anil Kapoor. Bhumi Pednekar will also be a part of the film as Aurangzeb’s first wife while Janhvi Kapoor will be seen playing the role of a slave.

This will be Vicky & Bhumi’s second outing together after being a part of Dharma Productions’ horror franchise ‘BHOOT: Part One: The Haunted Ship’.

Takht is stated to release in 2020.
