BANEPA, July 17: The locals of remote villages across the Mahabharata Range in Kavrepalanchowk district are forced to spend as much as Rs 10,000 to acquire citizenship certificate.

With the refusal of the employees to work at the Area Administration Office – set up at Ghartichap VDC to facilitate villages across the lesser Himalayan range – the villagers have been compelled to travel to Dhulikhel for citizenship.

Nandalal Rana Magar, a local of Ghartichap VDC – 5, said the expenditure to travel to Dhulikhel usually cost the villagers Rs 10,000. The villagers have to walk on foot for two days and bear the cost of five days' travel for at least two persons.

Kavre's Chief District Officer (CDO), Balkrishna Panthi, said although the Home Ministry has appointed employees at the Area Administration Office, they were yet to attend work. RSS
