As the country is facing the rising number of rape cases, the police have been accused of settling down many cases to acquit the culprit. Following the incident of Nirmala Panta rape and murder case, the locals have accused the police department of negligence. Nepal Police spokesperson Shailesh Thapa Chhetri, while talking with Roshan Sedhai, has accepted that there has been negligence in some cases but claimed that the police headquarters is serious and is working out on this sensitive issue. He added that the police have established Women and Children Service Directorate to look after these kinds of cases. Here is the full interview:
