KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The Kathmandu Valley on Saturday recorded the lowest temperature so far in the winter this year.



The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology shared that the minimum temperature in the Valley dropped to 4.5 degree celsius. The minimum temperature on Friday was 8.5 degree celsius.

Meteorologist Barun Poudel said the mercury started dipping with the cloudy weather influenced by Westerly wind for the past few days. "If the sky remains clear during the night, the morning time temperature goes down and if it is cloudy in the night, the temperature remains warm in the morning," Poudel said, explaining why it felt so chilly in Kathmandu Valley on Saturday morning. 


The weather will be clear throughout the country for the next few days and the days that follow will be sunny.


The weather update shared by the Meteorological Forecasting Division said the minimum temperature in Kathmandu valley was recorded 4.5 degree celsius and the maximum was 18.5 degree celsius.


The lowest minimum temperature throughout the country was recorded in Jumla while the highest minimum temperature was recorded in Biratnagar in the last 24 hours. The lowest minimum temperature in Jumla was minus 2.5 degree celsius, while the highest minimum temperature in Biratnagar was 12.0 degree celsius.
