AIG Pokharel retires

KATHMANDU, August 5: Nepal Police AIG Bishwa Raj Pokharel has retired. Pokharel got compulsory retirement due to the age limit.

KATHMANDU, August 5: Nepal Police AIG Bishwa Raj Pokharel has retired. Pokharel got compulsory retirement due to the age limit.



He had approached the Supreme Court with a writ petition saying that the government had appointed AIG Dhiraj Pratap Singh, his junior, as the Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police. But after the Supreme Court did not give a verdict in his favor, he submitted his resignation to the police headquarters, Naxal on 18th July.

There is a legal provision that the resignation of an AIG must be approved by the Council of Ministers after the home ministry takes the resignation to the Cabinet. But his resignation letter was not sent to the home ministry.
