APF, Army dominate cricket

KATHMANDU, April 19: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club doubled its win tally in the ongoing Eighth National Games defeating Karnali Province by six wickets in the second match of the Group B at Kohalpur Cricket Ground, Banke on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, April 19: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club doubled its win tally in the ongoing Eighth National Games defeating Karnali Province by six wickets in the second match of the Group B at Kohalpur Cricket Ground, Banke on Thursday. 



Karnali won the toss and elected to bat first before getting all out in 78 runs in 15.4 overs. Dinesh Adhikari and Lalit Pyakurel contributed 28 and 23 runs respectively. 


Player of the match Susan Bhari picked three wickets to limit Karnali. In reply, Army completed the chase in 17 overs with the loss of four wickets. Hari Krishna Jha top-scored with 29 runs. Adhikari, Prakash Jaishi and Diwash Pun shared a wicket each.

In Bhairahawa, Armed Police Force (APF) Club won its second match of the national games defeating Province 5 by five wickets in a Group ‘A’ match played at the Siddharth Stadium on Thursday. Province 5 scored 90 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Sandeep Sunar top scored with 26 runs. 


Player of the match Basant Regmi picked up three wickets. The APF completed the chase in 18.1 overs losing five wickets. APF’s Shankar Rana and Pradeep Airee contributed 32 and 23 runs respectively to give APF its second win of the league. Sunar and Bikram Bhusal shared two wickets each for Province 5.


Similarly, in second group match of the day, Mahesh Adhikari picked up four wickets to inspire Sudur Paschim Province to its first win of the national games played at same venue in Bhairahawa. 

Sudur Paschim batted first and scored 122 runs from 20 overs for the loss of four wickets. Khadak Bohora and Lokesh Bam contributed 36 and 21 runs respectively. 


In reply, Gandaki Province was bundled out for 91 runs in 19.1 overs. National player Karan KC top scored with 35 runs for the losing team but Adhikari’s four gave Sudur Paschim its first win.  Arun Airee chipped with two wickets.


In women’s category, Province 1 trounced Province 2 by 10 wickets in the first match in Dang. 

Earlier, Province 1’s Sangita Rai picked up 5 wickets to limit Province 2 for 54 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets. 


Similarly, departmental team APF defeated Sudur Paschim by seven wickets
