CJ Rana returns from Supreme Court after receiving impeachment motion letter

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana has returned home from the Supreme Court  after receiving an impeachment motion letter.

An impeachment motion was filed against him at the federal parliament secretariat today morning. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu, Nepali Congress (NC) Whip Pushpa Bhusal and CPN (Maoist Center) Whip Dev Gurung are among those registering the motion. A total of 98 lawmakers have signed the proposal to impeach CJ Rana.


CJ Rana had assumed the post of Chief Justice on January 2, 2019. He has been suspended from his post following the registration of impeachment motion against him at the Parliament Secretariat.
