Curfew, indefinite strike ongoing in Dhankuta

Dhankuta, Jan 21:  As the talks between the Chief District Officer (CDO) and the struggle committee formed to demand provincial capital in Dhankuta ended inconclusively, the curfew imposed by the administration and indefinite strike called by the struggle committee is still ongoing.

Dhankuta, Jan 21:  As the talks between the Chief District Officer (CDO) and the struggle committee formed to demand provincial capital in Dhankuta ended inconclusively, the curfew imposed by the administration and indefinite strike called by the struggle committee is still ongoing. 



The scheduled programme for demonstrations called for 11:00 Saturday was postponed as a result of the curfew clamped by the local administration.

The agitating groups in the district have formed a struggle committee to pile pressure on the government to seek provincial capital after the government named Biratnagar as the temporary provincial capital of Province No. 1. 


CDO Prem Prakash Upreti said that security situation has been beefed up after the struggle committee announced protest programmes following a meeting on Friday evening. 

The struggle committee has announced a shutdown of transportation service and the entire market from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm every day.
