Family members of first COVID-19 dead report negative

KAVRE, May 18: The family members of the first COVID-19 death case of Nepal have reported negative for COVID-19.

KAVRE, May 18: The family members of the first COVID-19 death case of Nepal have reported negative for COVID-19.



The PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test conducted at Micro-biology Laboratory of Dhulikhel Hospital confirmed that the 16 days old baby, husband, mother and sister of the dead have not contracted the virus.

The throat swabs of all the four members of the family were tested for COVID-19.


According to Dr Suman Raj Tamrakar, the spokesperson for Dhulikhel Hospital, the family members after testing negative for the virus are being taken to Sindhupalchok, where they will be staying at a quarantine facility for 14 days in collaboration with the District Crisis Management Committee, Sindhupalchowk.


The infant has also been reported to have been suffering from Jaundice.


Nepal reported its first COVID-19 death on Saturday. She was a 29 year old woman from Barabise, Sindhupalchowk, who had been admitted to Dhulikhel Hospital for breathing difficulties.
