Foundation laid for Pokhara water project

KATHMANDU, June 12: Japanese ambassador to Nepal Masamichi Saigo on Tuesday participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Project for Improvement of Water Supply in Pokhara.

KATHMANDU, June 12: Japanese ambassador to Nepal Masamichi Saigo on Tuesday participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Project for Improvement of Water Supply in Pokhara. The project is jointly funded by the governments of Nepal and Japan. Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar laid the foundation stone.

Chief Representative of JICA Nepal Office Yumiko Asakuma also attended the ceremony, according to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu. Japan has extended 4.813 billion Japanese yen (approx Rs 4.834 billion) grant assistance to Nepal for the implementation of the project under Japan's Official Development Assistance.


“Under this Grant Assistance, the Project will construct a sedimentation tank, water treatment plant, reservoirs and overhead tanks along with the rehabilitation and construction of water transmission lines and distribution networks,” said the statement.
