Jhapa Gold Cup kicks off today

DAMAK, March 2: All preparations for the Jhapa Gold Cup have been completed as the tournament to be played at the Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium in Birtamod is scheduled to start on Saturday.

DAMAK, March 2: All preparations for the Jhapa Gold Cup have been completed as the tournament to be played at the Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium in Birtamod is scheduled to start on Saturday. 



A total of 10 teams including a club from Hong Kong are going to take part in the tournament. The tournament will feature the host Jhapa XI, three departmental teams- Tribhuvan Army Club, Armed Police Force (APF) Club, Nepal Police Club- and two A-Division League teams- Manang Marshyangdi Club and Three Star Club- along with other Morang XI Football Club, Rupandehi Football Club, Sahara Club and Hong Kong’s Nepalese Academy. 


The organizer informed that more than Rs 2.5 million is estimated as the total expense of the tournament.

The winner of the tournament will be rewarded with Rs 1.255 million, while the runner-up will take home a cash prize of Rs 600,000.


The main sponsor of the tournament, Mansha Thai Food’s Magmag Noodles, has provided the Gold Cup with Rs 800,000, and Jhapa XI with Rs 500,000 along with the sports materials worth Rs 100,000. 


Likewise, the best goalkeeper, the best defender, the best midfielder and the best coach will get Rs 21,000 each, while the highest goal-scorer will be rewarded with Rs 25,000. Man of the match of every match will be given Rs 15,000. Meanwhile, the best player of the tournament will get his hands on a motorcycle.
