Jure landslide victims get relief three yrs after disaster

CHAUTARA, July 13: Three years after the calamities, the victims of Jure landslides in Sindhupalchowk district have received the relief amount. 



A total of 145 persons had died and 122 houses were completely damaged after the heavy landslides swept away the entire villages in Itani hill in 2014. The affected families are treated equal to that of earthquake affected families in regard to the relief distribution.

Residents of the then four VDCs namely Ramche, Mankha, Dhuskun and Tekanpur were affected. Of them, the residents of Dhuskun and Tekanpur had already received the relief amount. 


Chief of Urban Development and Building Division Office, Sindhupalchowk, Er Yubraj Poudel said agreement has been signed to provide relief amount equal to that of quake affected to three households in Ramche and 10 in Mankha out of 20 households. He added that efforts are going on to provide relief to remaining other households.


The Office said that the relief amount was distributed based on the recommendation of the Ward Chair and Secretary. 


Poudel added that additional 50,000 rupees was provided to the affected to purchase land plot to those lacking land. RSS
