SURUNGA (Jhapa), Jan 23: The mystifying practice of snake charming has been a part of everyone's curiosity which is the reason why it is also a lucrative business.
In an unprecedented development, the locals in Birtamode – 1 took under control two snake charmers and handed them over to the police on Sunday.
Buddhu Nath, 29, and Shokbir Nath Jogi Baba, 32, of Najwagarh of India stand accused of swindling the people under various pretexts. The locals caught them red handed while trying to sell a rudraksha bead to one Shova Kandel.
The two snake charmers have been detained at the Area Police Office, Birtamode and necessary investigation is being held into the matter, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Keshav Kumar Thebe said.
They had been selling fake single-fronted rudraksha bead – considered holy and auspicious in Hindu religion – for Rs 1100 to the members of the general public. RSS
