KATHMANDU, Jan 1: Nepali Congress leader Amresh Kumar Singh on Tuesday raised the question over the government's decision to award Chinese Huawei Company to set up video conference system at the Prime Minister's Office.
Speaking during the special hour of the Parliament on Tuesday, Singh drew the attention of the parliamentarians for awarding the contract without conducting open bidding to the controversial company.

"The government awarded contract to Chinese company Huawei to set up war-room at the PMO without any open tenders. This is nothing other than the intention of people in the government to make money," the lawmaker of the major opposition said.
Alleging that Huawei has faced data theft charges in the United States and Canada, Singh sought the assurance of data security from the concerned office.
"Prime Minister's office is very sensitive zone in terms of national security as well. The company has been fined in Canada and banned in US allegedly for data theft. If data from the PM office are leaked who will be held responsible?" questioned Singh.
Singh also demanded a joint parliamentary committee to probe into the Nepal Airlines airbus purchase scam. Claiming that massive irregularities have taken place in the two airbus purchase, Singh demanded the resignation of the government leadership on moral ground.
