National Assembly elections to be held on January 25

KATHMANDU, Nov 29: The government will hold the National Assembly elections on January 25. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held this morning decided the date of the National Assembly elections.

KATHMANDU, Nov 29: The government will hold the National Assembly elections on January 25. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held this morning decided the date of the National Assembly elections.



The Election Commission (EC) has suggested the government fix the date of January 25 for the election, according to which the date has been fixed, said the government spokesperson Minister Rekha Sharma.

A total of 20 seats in the National Assembly will be vacant after March 3. A total of 19 seats will be elected through elections. The remaining one will be nominated by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.


In the National Assembly, the post of 8 MPs from UML, 4 from Nepali Congress, 3 from CPN (Maoist Center), 2 from Unified Socialist Party, 1 from Janata Samajwadi Party, 1 from Rastriya Swatantra Party and 1 MP from UML will be vacant.
