KATHMANDU, August 20: Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has expressed concerns over the new ordinance for party split, stating that it will lead to instability in the country.

“The government that was against the Oli government's introduction of the party-split ordinance with the support of 40 percent of members in the parliamentary party committee or the central committee has issued a new party-split ordinance which requires only 20 percent members in the central committee or the parliamentary committee to split a party. This ordinance is sure to destabilize the country,” Chairman Rana said in the party entry program organized at the party’s central office in Chabahil on Friday.

Rana criticized the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) government’s failure to expand the Council of Ministers even though a month and a week has passed since the formation of the new government.

“There were two major parties after the elections. The communist party has been split into three parties. Nepali Congress will also be declared a party that cannot govern a country within the next four to five months,” he said.

“In such a situation, the people will stage a protest for the benefit of the country with the slogan of monarchy and Hinduism,” Rana said.

Leaders of Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) from Saptari district and independent citizens also joined the RPP on the occasion.

In the program, Dhruv Pradhan, chief of RPP Secretariat, welcomed the new members of the party. He said that RPP is the only alternative for political stability in the country.
