KATHMANDU, Feb 3: Fourteen different networks campaigning for quality education in the country have expressed concern over what they called the school restructuring and reconstruction not picking up speed despite the passage of more than one and half years of the Gorkha Earthquake.

The National Campaign for Education-Nepal (NCE Nepal), together with the INGO, Education Task Group, have in a press release on Thursday, called on the government to give the first priority to schools in the post-earthquake reconstruction drive, citing the students were compelled to take classes in the temporary learning centers as the school reconstruction task is still incomplete.

The different organizations in the coalition for the promotion of human rights to quality education have also urged the government to ensure the right of all the children to learn in a secure environment as enshrined in Article 29 of the Convention on Child Rights, Article 31 of the Constitution of Nepal and the Millennium Development Goals and the post-2015 Education Guidelines.

These organizations have also declared to conduct public monitoring and extending the required cooperation from their sides as well as making the campaign for strengthening the public education effective, NCE Nepal president Kumar Bhattarai stated. RSS
