KATHMANDU, April 9: Authorities said that the government has not made any official decision regarding allowing the people, who are forced to live in Kathmandu due to nationwide lockdown, to leave Kathmandu for their hometowns on Friday and Saturday.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel, who is also the coordinator of the high-level government task force to contain the coronavirus, rejected the media reports that claimed that the government will allow the people mostly college students to go to their home towns amid extended lockdown. "No such decision has been made in this connection," Pokharel wrote on his Facebook adding that media reports regarding the same are baseless.
Comedy of errors
The government was in mood to allow the people to go to their hometowns keeping in mind that hundreds of people mostly college students are compelled to live in Kathmandu amid the extended lockdown imposed to stem the novel coronavirus spread.
Earlier today, Minister for Commerce Lekhraj Bhatta told during a TV interview that the people who are forced to live in Kathmandu due to nationwide lockdown will be allowed to leave Kathmandu for their hometowns on Friday and Saturday. He said the formal decision in this regard would be made soon.
