KATHMANDU, Dec 8: A team of officers from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), Teku on Friday fired a shot at robbery-accused Rajan Limbu in process of arresting him from his alleged hideout in the Ratopul area in the capital.
Chief of MPCD Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dhiraj Pratap Singh informed that an MPCD team tracked Limbu down acting on a tip-off arresting before arresting him from his hideout in the Dhobikhola corridor between Ratopul and Kalopul at 1:30 pm Friday.

Police had to fire a shot in the course of taking Limbu under control. When asked if firing was necessary, Nepal Police spokesman SSP Uttam Raj Subedi told Republica that the MPCD only fired at the criminal after he pulled out a gun from his pocket. “The police officers opened fire after sensing that he was going to shoot them,” he said.
Limbu, who has received a bullet injury in the leg in the police firing, is currently undergoing treatment at the National Trauma Center.
According to police, Limbu had attacked Sabin Dahal, the operator of Active Money Transfer based in Itahari on November 28, with a sharp weapon, and robbed Rs 300,000 from the Money Transfer. Limbu, who has already served a six-year jail term on the charge of various criminal cases, was on the run since the Itahari robbery.
