State should accord highest priority to development of ICT: VP Pun

KATHMANDU, June 18: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said that the state should highly prioritize the development and promotion of the Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) sector.

KATHMANDU, June 18: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said that the state should highly prioritize the development and promotion of the Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) sector.



He said so while inaugurating the 'Huawei Digital Nepal Conclave 2022 in association with InfoDevelopers Connected by Ncell' in Kathmandu today. 


The two-day event organized by ICT Foundation has over 60 stakeholders, speakers from five countries. Over 10 sessions will be organized under five themes during the event.

Participants will assess the implementation of the action-plan and programs put in place by the government for the development and promotion of the ICT sector. The event will also discuss the future course of action for the same


Stating that the State should move ahead in a planned manner for the rapid development of the ICT sector, Pun spoke of the need to take forward programs that help realize the government's vision for 'Digital Nepal Framework'.


He also stressed the need for moving ahead systematically to tackle the challenges prevailing in the ICT sector. The VP also pressed for an enabling environment to invent and manufacture the tools and equipment needed for the sector.


Furthermore, VP Pun said that public service delivery should be ensured through the medium of internet which, he opined, would make public service delivery accessible, easy and people-oriented.


He also called for the activeness of three-tier governments for ensuring public service delivery in all parts of the country through the use of science and technology. 


"Unless Nepal develops its own Information Technology, other sectors will also not get an impetus for development", added the VP.
