Addressing a gathering organized by his faction of the party, Chairman Dahal claimed that the poll body will soon recognize their faction as the legitimate and grant them both the name and election symbol-- the Sun--with a few days.  “Oli’s [Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli] setting with the court has been already dismantled. The setting with the election commission will also be collapsed soon,” he said.

The remarks of Chairman Dahal comes in the wake of the EC announcing to settle the legitimacy row of the NCP at the earliest. The two factions of the NCP -- one led by PM Oli and the other by Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal-- have knocked the election commission’s door demanding legitimacy of their faction as the official NCP after the ruling party suffered a vertical split following Prime Minister Oli’s move to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR) on December 20.
