KATHMANDU, July 31: The team of Street Connected Children in Nepal (SCCN) won the first friendly football match 3-1 against CIMB YFA in Malaysia on Tuesday.
Nepal’s Sanju Badi and Mukesh Sunuwar were architects of Jivit Tharu’s two goals, whereas Raju Badi scored the third goal off an assist from Karan Sunuwar in the match. The boys played a 45-minute match.

The girls’ team scored 4 goals against a local Malaysian football team on the same day to round off perfect outing. Alina Badi and Sita scored a goal each as Skipper Sapana registered a brace to complete the rout. Game was won 4-1.
The two winning teams are training in the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) under the leadership of NGO Shelter Nepal supported by Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
FAM Coach Cameron NG is coaching the boys’ team of Nepal, whereas Cassandra Devi Jeremiah and Leila Chua are coaching the girls’ team.
According to the coaches, the players have shown potential to become professional players. The wins have helped people realize the potential of underprivileged or at-risk children, who can achieve success if given right opportunity, the coaches said.
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is the technical partner for the matches.
