Walkathon to draw attention towards rural children's plight

KATHMANDU, June 26: The Fourth Walkathon will be organized coming Saturday in Kathmandu, to symbolically draw the attention of concerned authorities to the plight facing rural school children who around bound to walk for hours to get to education.

KATHMANDU, June 26: The Fourth Walkathon will be organized coming Saturday in Kathmandu, to symbolically draw the attention of concerned authorities to the plight facing rural school children who around bound to walk for hours to get to education.

The move also aims to make Kathmandu youths aware of difficulties being faced by rural children to get an education, said program organizer, Teach for Nepal, a non-governmental organization working in the education sector.


Approximately 900 people from different walks of life and students from various colleges and universities will participate in the 5 kilometers march that will start from Labim Mall and go through Kupandol, Maitighar, Bhadrakali and Tripureshwor before turning it into a musical programme at Labim Mall, said Shishir Khanal, Chief Executive Officer of Teach for Nepal.
