KATHMANDU, Nov 27: The US Embassy in Kathmandu is leading an online campaign to amplify voices against gender-based violence in Nepal as a part of the 16-day activism against it.
The online campaign launched in collaboration with the UNiTE campaign (UN Women) in Nepal seeks to amplify one very powerful message: In our world, there is no excuse for gender-based violence and we must invest to prevent violence against women and girls.

On Monday, U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Dean Thompson was featured in the campaign. Australian Ambassador Felicity Volk, U.K. Ambassador Rob Fenn, and UN Women Country Representative to Nepal Patricia Fernandez-Pacheco also posted as part of the campaign. Some noted Nepalis have joined the online campaign as well.
Every year, from November 25 through December 10, the world observes 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. For every one of the 16 Days of Activism, the U.S. Embassy coordinates posts featuring women and men from the U.S. Embassy sharing facts, quotes, and resources related to gender-based violence.
In honor of this year’s theme of “Invest to Prevent Violence against Women & Girls,” the online campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the issue, galvanizing advocacy efforts and investments to end violence against women and girls, and empowering change.”
